Motihari: Police in Motihari in East Champaran have busted a major job fraud and rescued 90 youths who were being cheated in the name of employment. A gang had been running a fake job network, luring unemployed youths from Assam, Bengal, Jharkhand and other states with promises of good jobs. The police carried out a raid in the Bariyarpur locality under Chhatauni police station area and arrested 11 people linked to the scam.
Sadar DSP Dilip Singh said the gang used social media to attract job seekers. First, they convinced the youths that they would get well-paid jobs. Then they charged them between Rs 12,000 and Rs 25,000 in the name of training fees. In exchange, the victims were given a small kit that contained a pant, a tie and an energy tablet. Instead of proper employment, the youths were forced to work in marketing jobs.
Police investigations revealed that the gang was operating under the name “DBR Company” earlier and later started using the name “Auto Mix Ayurvedic Company.” The mastermind of the gang has been identified as Anamul, a resident of Ramgarhwa. According to SP Swarn Prabhat, Anamul had earlier been running similar scams in Raxaul. The gang’s network had been bringing large numbers of youths to Bariyarpur and trapping them with false promises of jobs.
The arrested accused include Deepak Mahato of Patahi, Amar of Bengal, Dilip Bardi of Assam, Saud Alam of Katihar, Abu Salam of Bengal, Wahid Jama, Sadeem Shakib and Mohammad Aslam of Purnia. Police said this operation lasted nearly eight hours and saved the victims from losing more money. The rescued youths’ parents were immediately informed. Police have urged people not to trust job offers that demand money upfront and to verify the authenticity of any company before joining.
