Patna: On January 12, the Regional Passport Office in Patna organised a special Hindi literature programme titled “Suno–Sunao” (Listen–Narrate) to celebrate World Hindi Day and World Youth Day. The event was designed for children and performed by children, giving young participants the chance to speak, recite and perform in Hindi with confidence. On the same occasion, a newly constructed childcare room named “Vatsalya” was also inaugurated, highlighting the office’s effort to support families visiting with young children.

ed under the leadership of regional passport officer Swadha Rizvi, with Anurag Joshi, chief general manager of the State Bank of India, present as the chief guest. Children from Kilkari and Bal Bhavan, Patna, theatre group Prerna, and families of passport office staff took part in the event. They were guided and trained by senior theatre artists Shrikant Kishore and Sunil Kumar from Batras, Patna, who helped the children present their performances with clarity and enthusiasm.
A major highlight of the programme was the live recitation of Premchand’s famous story Idgah, which received warm appreciation from the audience. Children also presented pieces on well-known Hindi poets and recited powerful excerpts from Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s Rashmi Rathi. Along with poetry, the programme included antakshari, riddles and interactive activities, keeping the atmosphere cheerful while introducing children to the richness of Hindi literature in a simple and engaging way.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest spoke about the importance of using Hindi more widely in offices and in everyday life. Swadha Rizvi also encouraged officers and staff to increase the use of Hindi in official work. She expressed gratitude to the State Bank of India for its support in setting up the childcare room, saying that the “Vatsalya” facility would be helpful for staff members and for applicants who visit the office with children.
At the end of the programme, all participating children were gifted copies of Exam Warriors by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the aim of helping students and young people deal with exam-related stress. The event was conducted by senior superintendent Shambhu Sharan, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Hindi officer Dr Sajjan Kumar, bringing the celebration to a meaningful and positive close.
