Bodh Gaya: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya convened experts from healthcare, academia and policy at its flagship leadership summit, Convergence 2.0, to reimagine the country’s healthcare ecosystem through technological innovation.
Held under the theme “Re-imagining Healthcare Ecosystem with Technological Advancements,” the summit brought together clinicians, policymakers and industry leaders to share insights on how emerging tools such as artificial intelligence, robotics, telemedicine and digital platforms are reshaping patient care and system delivery.
In her inaugural address, IIM Bodh Gaya Director Vinita S. Sahay stressed the importance of an India-specific healthcare model, saying: “India cannot afford healthcare the way the West does. What we need is a nation that is well, healthy, and strong in body and spirit.” Prof Swapnarag Swain, chairperson of the MBA (Hospital & Healthcare Management) programme, underlined the summit’s role in fostering sustained collaboration between academia and industry.
The day featured multiple panel discussions spanning medical technology, digital transformation, pharmaceuticals and provider–payer synergies. Experts explored themes such as indigenous manufacturing of medical devices under Make in India, regulatory challenges in MedTech, interoperable health records, AI-driven diagnostics, wearable technology, clinical trials, supply chain resilience, and insurance-linked models for improving patient access.
Key voices included Ajay Bagga, MD & Country Head at Zimmer Biomet; Manish Sardana, MD & GM, South Asia at Vygon; Bhupendra Tripathi, Deputy Director at Gates Foundation; Pragati Awasthi, Group VP at Romsons Group; Sameer Gupta, Senior Cardiologist at Metro Hospitals; Navneet Bali, CEO of Clearmedi Healthcare; Neeraj Lal, Regional Director at Medicover Hospitals; and senior executives from Dr Reddy’s, Boehringer Ingelheim, Aurobindo Pharma and Alkem Labs.
A closing discussion highlighted the importance of payer–provider partnerships, integrated insurance solutions and digital payment innovations in achieving sustainable, value-based care.
Convergence 2.0 concluded with a set of actionable recommendations to improve interoperability, strengthen supply chains and ensure responsible adoption of emerging healthcare technologies. IIM Bodh Gaya reaffirmed its commitment to building its MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management into a practice-oriented, industry-aligned programme that supports the evolving needs of the sector.
