Patna: The Jan Suraaj Party has unveiled its election blueprint, declaring it will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls. National president Uday Singh, state president Manoj Bharti and former Union minister RCP Singh said the party had moved beyond alliance talks and had been working on candidate selection since January.
Bharti said the first phase of the selection process, held from August 2 to 22, had allowed the party to assess its strengths and weaknesses. Singh added that candidates would be chosen through feedback from panchayat and block levels, with preference given to workers who helped build the Jan Suraaj movement.
On the question of Prashant Kishor, Singh said the party would decide collectively whether its most prominent face should contest. “If he fights, he will be tied to one constituency. But he is our biggest sutradhar,” Singh remarked, suggesting Kishor’s role as strategist could outweigh his candidacy.
The party said tickets will be announced around Navratri beginning September 22, with leaders ruling out an immediate declaration. Singh also hit out at former IAS officer Manish Verma, who recently joined JD(U), citing his alleged controversial record as Patna’s district magistrate during the 2014 Dussehra stampede and cases linked to scams.
