Patna: In a significant development in the high-profile murder case of gangster Chandan Mishra at Paras Hospital in Patna, the Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a major breakthrough, arresting five accused individuals from West Bengal. The arrests were made within 24 hours of the audacious shootout that occurred on Thursday morning.
The arrested individuals are currently being questioned in West Bengal. Following the completion of legal procedures, they will be brought to Patna for further investigation. While sources confirm the arrests, an official confirmation from the police authorities is still awaited.
Extensive Hunt and Identified Shooters
According to sources, the STF, in collaboration with the police team, conducted swift raids in Bengal after receiving intelligence about the accused’s whereabouts. The number of arrests may potentially increase as the investigation progresses. Earlier, the names of at least 10 suspected shooters, including Tausif Badshah, Balwant, Abhishek, Monu Singh, Nilesh, Suryaman, and Nishu, had surfaced in connection with Mishra’s killing. It is believed that after committing the crime, the accused fled to West Bengal, prompting the immediate deployment of a police team by flight to the state. Senior police officials have been closely monitoring the entire operation.
Jail-Hatched Conspiracy and Gang Rivalry
Investigations so far strongly suggest that the murder plot was hatched by gangster Sheru Singh, who is currently lodged in a jail in West Bengal. It is believed that Sheru hired Tausif Badshah, a resident of Phulwari Sharif, and other shooters to carry out the contract killing of Chandan Mishra.
Sheru and Chandan were once close associates, having committed numerous murders together in Buxar. However, their friendship eventually soured and transformed into a bitter rivalry, which is now believed to be the primary motive behind Mishra’s assassination.
Audacious Execution Captured on CCTV
Chandan Mishra was serving a sentence in Patna’s Beur jail for a murder case and had recently been released on parole for medical treatment, leading to his admission at Paras Hospital. On Thursday morning, six armed shooters arrived at the hospital on two motorcycles. They were seen conversing outside the hospital before five of them entered the premises on foot.
The assailants then stormed Chandan Mishra’s ward, opened fire, and fled the scene. Disturbingly, multiple CCTV videos circulating on social media show the shooters fearlessly waving their weapons as they escaped on their bikes. Hospital footage also captured the accused entering Chandan’s room, armed with guns, highlighting the brazen nature of the attack.
