Patna: The Bihar government has launched a five-day Handicraft Promotion Program to support and develop Madhubani painting, a traditional art form with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The event began on Thursday and is being held at 17 different locations in Jhanjharpur, Madhubani.
The programme was inaugurated by Bihar’s Industry Minister Nitish Mishra, who called Madhubani painting the cultural identity of the state. He said the government is working hard to preserve and promote it. “We are making every possible effort to give it a new life,” Mishra said.
This initiative is focused on helping rural and local craftsmen learn more about modern design, marketing, branding, and digital promotion. The training will help artists improve the quality of their products and connect better with the market, creating more job opportunities.
Experts will guide participants on topics like quality control, export process, and using digital tools to promote their work. Many government officials, trainers, and a large number of male and female artisans attended the event with great enthusiasm.
