Patna: The Municipal Commissioner on Monday conducted an extensive inspection of multiple wards in Patna City along with local councilors, reviewing waterlogging situations, sanitation systems and monsoon preparedness measures.
The visit covered key civic locations where immediate operational and administrative directions were issued to concerned officials.
Monsoon Preparedness and Waste Management
During the inspection, the Municipal Commissioner instructed officials to coordinate with the Circle Officer of Didarganj for identifying suitable land for the proposed garbage transfer station in Patna City. The directive is aimed at strengthening the city’s waste management infrastructure.
Officials were also asked to prioritise sanitation improvements and ensure timely disposal of accumulated waste in vulnerable areas ahead of peak monsoon activity.
Mangal Talab Drainage Concerns
At Mangal Talab premises, waterlogging was observed following rainfall during the previous night. Pumping operations were already underway to remove accumulated water.
The Municipal Commissioner directed officials to develop a permanent drainage mechanism to ensure rainwater flows directly into the pond during the monsoon season, reducing recurring waterlogging in the area.
Construction and demolition waste, along with a clogged drain, were also found near the pond. Instructions were issued for immediate removal of debris and cleaning of the drainage system to restore smooth water flow
Action Against Encroachment in Charkhipar
During the inspection of the Charkhipar area, a councilor informed officials about alleged encroachment on land owned by the Patna Municipal Corporation.
In response, the Municipal Commissioner directed authorities to remove the encroachment, install barricades around the land, and place signage clearly indicating municipal ownership of the property.
