Purnia: With assembly elections on the horizon, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has sharpened his political tone, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi while launching a veiled attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Nitish, who shared the stage with PM Modi at the inauguration of Purnia Airport on Monday, said the prime minister had “always paid special attention to Bihar” and urged people to welcome his initiatives for the state.
At the same time, the chief minister turned his fire on the RJD, claiming the party had done little for Bihar, and suggested that his past alliance with them was a mistake. In a striking remark delivered before PM Modi, CM Nitish said: “Last time also, one of our party people forcibly took me to RJD- fold, he is sitting here right now. But now this mistake will not be made.”
The blunt statement has added fresh intrigue to Bihar’s political landscape, where speculation is already swirling about shifting alliances ahead of polls.
For PM Modi, the event was an opportunity to unveil several development projects, including the inauguration of Purnia Airport and the launch of new trains. But the political spotlight inevitably fell on Nitish’s carefully chosen words, which appeared designed to reassure the NDA base while shutting the door firmly on any return to the RJD fold.
