Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 48 development projects in Rajgir, Nalanda district, collectively valued at Rs 1,242 crore, during an event at the State Guest House grounds on Sunday. The projects, which include initiatives announced during the Pragati Yatra, are expected to enhance infrastructure and social welfare, providing direct benefits to local communities.

Addressing a large gathering of pension beneficiaries, Anganwadi workers, Jeevika Didis, and other residents, CM Nitish highlighted recent increases in social welfare provisions. Pension amounts under the Social Security Pension Scheme for elderly, disabled, and widowed women have been raised from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100. Daily allowances for home guards have been increased from Rs 774 to Rs 1,121, while the honoraria for Anganwadi workers and helpers, school night watchmen, farmer advisors, and ASHA workers have also been revised upward.
“Keep working with the same zeal and move forward,” CM Nitish told the beneficiaries. “The government will provide all possible support. Live together in harmony and contribute significantly to the progress of Bihar.”
The Chief Minister also praised the distribution of 125 units of free electricity to domestic consumers, which he said allows savings to be channelled into other development projects.
