Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inspected the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change in Patna. He visited the academic block, labs, classrooms and administrative building, and took information about the arrangements and activities of the institute. Speaking to students, he advised them to study well and stay focused on their goals.
Senior officers including Additional Chief Secretary of Education Dr S Siddharth, the chief minister’s secretary Kumar Ravi, and Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma accompanied him during the inspection. Teachers and students of the institute were also present.
The institute was set up in 1973 as the Bihar Institute of Economic Development and later renamed after Lalit Narayan Mishra. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in management and computer education. In the last three years, it has achieved more than 90% placements and was ranked among the top 15 business schools in India in the 2025 Times B-School survey.
Known for its affordable fees, the institute allows students from weaker sections to pursue professional courses. Many are enrolled through the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme. It is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University and approved by AICTE. The institute also runs a start-up cell to guide young entrepreneurs.
