Patna: Cloud activity continues across Bihar, with some districts receiving heavy rainfall while humid conditions persist in others.
The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and lightning in 11 districts on Tuesday, along with scattered rainfall at several places. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Gopalganj, Siwan, East Champaran and West Champaran.
Patna, meanwhile, is likely to receive only light drizzle, although cloudy conditions may persist.
Cloud activity is expected to intensify across much of South Bihar from Wednesday, with the weather system likely to remain active over the state for the next two to three days.
Weather systems driving rainfall
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough currently extends from Sri Ganganagar and Narnaul through a low-pressure centre over central Uttar Pradesh, passing through Dehri, Purulia and Digha before reaching the northeast Bay of Bengal.
A cyclonic circulation is also persisting over western Assam.
Under the influence of these systems, several parts of Bihar are likely to experience rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the coming days.
On Monday, clouds moved across several regions while Patna remained humid. Scattered rainfall was reported from areas including Forbesganj, Motihari and Sheikhpura.

Maximum temperatures increased in 18 districts, including Patna, on Monday.
Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 33.3°C, while the state’s highest maximum temperature was 34.9°C in Aurangabad.
Strong winds were also reported, with a maximum speed of 52 km/h recorded at Dholi in Muzaffarpur.
Laukahi records 118.5mm rain
Heavy rainfall was reported from several parts of Bihar. Laukahi in Madhubani recorded the highest rainfall at 118.5mm.

Late Sunday night, heavy rain also affected areas around Patna, with 69.2mm recorded in Punpun, 60.6mm in Dulhin Bazar, 48mm in Masaurhi and 40.8mm in Paliganj.
The continuing influence of the monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation is expected to keep Bihar’s weather unsettled over the next few days.
