Patna: Bhojpuri cinema actor Pakhi Hegde has brushed aside speculation that she may take the political plunge, insisting that she has no immediate plans to enter public life.
Speaking to reporters at Patna airport, Hegde described Bihar as her karmabhoomi – her land of work – and said she always felt proud to return. Asked directly about the buzz surrounding her political ambitions, she replied: “At present there is no such intention.”
Her remarks come days after she met Bihar’s deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary, sparking talk that she could be fielded by the BJP in the state. Hegde, however, sought to shift attention to colleagues from the Bhojpuri industry who have already made the switch to politics.
“Pawan Singh is my brother and I like his singing,” she said. “Ritesh Pandey is also a person of good personality and his image is very good.”
The actor also used the opportunity to urge audiences in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to rally behind fellow Bhojpuri performer Neelam Giri, currently a contestant on Bigg Boss 19. “She is the daughter of Bihar and I will appeal to people of both UP and Bihar to support her and make her win,” Hegde said.
On her film career, Hegde ruled out working with Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua, noting that she preferred not to repeat content. “Whenever a good script comes, I do the film,” she added.
