Patna: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Patna will organise a Passport Adalat on March 11 to address long-pending passport and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) applications, officials said.
More than 900 applicants whose cases have remained unresolved for over six months have been invited to attend the special session at the RPO office in Patna.
During the Passport Adalat, the regional passport officer and senior officials will interact directly with applicants to examine their cases and attempt to resolve them on the spot.
Officials said the initiative aims not only to clear pending applications but also to gather feedback from applicants about their experience with passport services across Bihar.
In cases where immediate resolution is not possible, applicants will be advised about corrective steps, documentation requirements and other measures needed to expedite the processing of their applications.
The event forms part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ Passport Seva Programme, which seeks to improve the delivery of passport services through citizen-focused initiatives.
Officials said Passport Adalats provide a dedicated platform for resolving complex or long-pending cases through direct interaction between applicants and passport authorities. Similar sessions have previously been organised at the Patna office to address unresolved applications.
Apart from Passport Adalats, the RPO Patna has also introduced several public grievance redressal mechanisms.
Under the “Meet the RPO” initiative, applicants can interact directly with the regional passport officer to resolve complicated or pending cases and provide feedback on passport services.
A dedicated public grievance redressal cell, comprising senior passport officials, also assists applicants by guiding them on documentation and procedures and addressing complaints received through email and social media.
To improve accessibility, the RPO Patna provides around 300 enquiry appointments each day for applicants seeking assistance or clarification, except on Wednesdays when 25 appointments are available.
Applicants can also contact the office through telephone and email services to obtain information or follow up on their passport-related queries.
Officials said the office actively communicates with citizens through social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube to share updates, advisories and respond to public queries.
Applicants attending the Passport Adalat have been asked to bring a copy of the invitation email or letter issued by the RPO Patna, their application reference number or file number and all relevant original documents related to their passport or PCC application.
Officials said each case will be reviewed individually, and applicants will be guided on the next steps required for completion of their applications.
The initiative, authorities said, reflects the RPO Patna’s effort to create a more responsive and transparent system for addressing passport-related grievances and improving service delivery for citizens.
