Patna: Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, will observe Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026 on June 15 with a range of passenger-centric activities aimed at promoting convenience, service excellence, cultural engagement and stakeholder participation.
According to Airport Director Chandra Pratap Dwivedi, the programme will begin with the collective singing of Vande Mataram by stakeholders associated with the airport, symbolising unity and a shared commitment to passenger service and nation-building.
Passengers arriving at and departing from the airport will be welcomed with tika-chandan, where appropriate, and welcome kits will be distributed as part of efforts to enhance the travel experience.
Showcasing Bihar’s Culture
The day-long celebrations will feature cultural and folk-dance performances inside the terminal building, highlighting Bihar’s rich artistic traditions.
“Local cuisine, handicrafts and traditional art forms will also be promoted, offering travellers an opportunity to experience the state’s cultural heritage. Selfie points will be installed outside the terminal building to provide passengers with an interactive and memorable experience during the event,” airport director Chandra Pratap Dwivedi said.
Health And Social Welfare Initiatives
As part of the observance, a blood donation camp, free health check-up camp and free eye check-up camp will be organised for passengers and contractual employees.
“These initiatives are intended to promote public health awareness while extending support to the airport community and travellers,” Dwivedi said.
Focus On Sustainability
A tree plantation drive will be conducted on the city side of the airport as part of the event’s environmental outreach programme.
Saplings will also be distributed to arriving passengers, reflecting the airport’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Opportunities For Students
To encourage youth participation, a painting competition will be organised for school students.
“College students have also been invited to participate in career counselling sessions and guided airport visits, enabling them to gain insights into airport operations and employment opportunities in the aviation sector,” Dwivedi said.
Recognising Airport Workforce
The event will include recognition and awards for housekeeping staff and women employees working in aviation at the airport.
“The initiative aims to acknowledge their contribution towards maintaining service standards and ensuring smooth airport operations,” said Dwivedi.
Decorative lighting and illumination arrangements will be installed throughout the terminal building and event venues to mark the occasion.
