Patna: Patna is set to get a 6-lane elevated road linking Anisabad and Didarganj, a project aimed at reducing heavy traffic along one of the city’s busiest corridors. The proposal, approved by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under a public-private partnership model, was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Pankaj Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Road Construction Department, on Wednesday.
The planned Anisabad-Didarganj Elevated Road will span 13.4 km from Saristabad Junction to Didarganj Junction and extend further towards AIIMS, featuring a six-lane elevated carriageway alongside a six-lane at-grade road with service lanes. Excluding the toll plaza, the project is estimated to cost around Rs 4,295 crore.
“The objective is to address serious traffic congestion at major urban choke points, including Mithapur Chowk, Zero Mile intersection, Gurudwara intersection, and Didarganj Junction,” Pal said during the meeting. He instructed engineers to remove obstacles delaying the project and indicated that additional high-level discussions would be held to resolve remaining bottlenecks.
Officials highlighted the road’s importance as a key connector for regional traffic moving from Patna towards Bakhtiyarpur, Bhagalpur, Hajipur, and Gaya. Senior officers and engineers from the department attended the meeting.
