Patna: Residents of Patna have received limited relief on compressed natural gas (CNG) prices despite a steep increase in petrol and diesel rates across the city.
Oil companies have raised the price of CNG from Rs 89.90 per kilogram to Rs 90.90 per kilogram — an increase of Re 1 per kg.
The comparatively modest hike comes at a time when petrol and diesel prices in the city have risen by more than Rs 3 per litre.
According to the revised rates:
- regular petrol prices increased from Rs 105.23 to Rs 108.58 per litre
- regular diesel prices rose from Rs 91.49 to Rs 94.63 per litre
Officials said premium fuels such as XP95 petrol and XP diesel had also witnessed increases exceeding Rs 3 per litre.

New CNG Station Opened In Transport Nagar
Amid the fuel price hike, a new CNG station has also been inaugurated in Patna’s Transport Nagar area. The facility was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar.
Developed along the bypass road, the station has been established as a “Mother Station”, meaning it will also supply CNG to surrounding stations in the region.
Officials said regular public supply from the new station is expected to begin by the end of May.
Relief Expected For Public Transport Operators
The operationalisation of the new CNG station is expected to benefit:
- auto-rickshaw drivers
- taxi operators
- bus services
- private CNG vehicle owners
Officials said the additional infrastructure would help improve fuel accessibility and reduce pressure on existing CNG stations across the city.
The latest fuel revisions come amid broader volatility in energy prices linked to rising crude oil costs in international markets.
