Patna: The results of the Patna High Court Advocates’ Association elections were announced late on Saturday night, with senior advocate Yogesh Chandra Verma elected president.
Verma, a veteran of the Patna High Court bar, has previously held the post on multiple occasions. He began practising at the court in April 1968 and is regarded as an experienced lawyer across civil, criminal and constitutional matters. He is also a member of the Bihar State Bar Council.
Jai Shankar Prasad Singh was elected general secretary for a second term, having also held the position in the previous tenure. The results were declared by the returning officer, senior advocate Anjani Kumar, following the completion of vote counting.
The counting process was reported to have taken place smoothly and without incident.
In a notable outcome, women secured all three assistant secretary positions. The election was conducted under a provision granting 33% reservation for women. Meanwhile, advocate Pushpa Sinha was elected treasurer for the second time.
Results for other posts have also been declared, though detailed information is still awaited.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the winning candidates, who said they would work towards the welfare and interests of the legal fraternity.
