Patna: Bihar chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Friday reviewed progress on Patna Metro’s Corridor-2, inspecting both elevated and underground sections and directing officials to accelerate construction.
He was accompanied by Vinay Kumar, principal secretary of the urban development and housing department, during the inspection across multiple project sites.
Inspection Of Elevated And Priority Sections
The review began at the elevated stretch and station at Mithapur, where the chief secretary assessed progress and called for faster completion of the priority corridor linking Khemichak and Mithapur.
He also inspected the Mithapur sub-station, examining the readiness of supporting infrastructure.
Underground Tunnel Work Reviewed
Amrit later visited the underground section near Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, where he entered tunnels being excavated using tunnel boring machines to review work firsthand.
Officials informed him that construction has been completed from the New Patliputra Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakri, while tunnelling work is ongoing towards Moin-ul-Haq Stadium via Rajendra Nagar.
They added that:
- The tunnel from Moin-ul-Haq Stadium to Rajendra Nagar has been completed in part, with further excavation underway
- The stretch from Patna University to PMCH is complete, while work continues up to Gandhi Maidan
- The tunnel from Gandhi Maidan to Patna Junction via Akashvani has been completed

Review Meeting With Agencies
Following the site visits, the chief secretary held a review meeting with officials from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited and Larsen & Toubro.
He directed all agencies to prioritise timely completion of Corridor-2, which will connect 12 metro stations and is expected to significantly improve urban mobility in Patna.
Focus On Timely And Quality Execution
Amrit emphasised the need for maintaining both speed and quality in execution, noting that early completion of the project would help reduce traffic congestion and provide residents with a reliable public transport option.
Officials said the government is closely monitoring progress to ensure that the metro project meets its deadlines and delivers long-term benefits for the city.
