Patna: Farmers have stopped work at the Patna Metro casting yard in Maujipur-Vikrampur, Fatuha Fourlane, citing unpaid land lease payments. The yard, spread over 14 acres and leased by 46 farmers to Nutan Enterprises, has been embroiled in a payment dispute for the past two months.
The farmers, including Sadhu Rai, Hare Ram Prasad, and Chandrika Rai, say they have yet to receive Rs 22 lakh in total and warned that if the dues are not cleared within four days, ongoing work will be disrupted from Friday. They emphasised that their agreement is directly with Nutan Enterprises, not Patna Metro.
Nutan Enterprises proprietor Amarjit Singh said the delay in payments from senior Metro officials has prevented him from settling the farmers’ dues. Singh confirmed that as soon as the Metro company clears the payments, he will immediately pay the farmers. Farmers present during the protest included Jitendra Kumar, Hareram Prasad, Rampukar Singh, Gulten Singh, Chandrika Rai, Bhushan Rai, Chandrashekhar Singh, Sadhu Rai, and Arvind Kumar.
