Patna: A fire broke out at the Patna Metro Project office on Sunday evening, with authorities suspecting a short circuit as the likely cause. The incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. at Gate No. 1 of the Metro Project office located within the Moinul Haque Stadium complex in the Bihar capital.
According to officials, ten fire brigade vehicles were deployed to the site, and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after roughly 40 minutes of operation. All items inside the office were destroyed, but no injuries or casualties were reported.
District Fire Officer Ritesh Kumar Pandey said emergency teams reached the spot immediately after receiving the alert. “The department was already on high alert due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow, which helped ensure a swift response,” Pandey said.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. “The fire was contained before it could spread to adjacent areas,” Pandey added.
Officials said a detailed investigation will be carried out to determine the exact cause and to assess the extent of damage to project-related documents and equipment.
The Patna Metro Project, one of the state’s key infrastructure initiatives, is currently under construction with several offices and work zones spread across the city. Authorities confirmed that the incident has not affected ongoing metro work elsewhere.
