Patna: Patna Metro will begin its first trial run on September 2 inside the depot near the Patliputra bus terminal, marking a key step towards operational services.
The 132 kV power switch station at the metro depot in Bairia was charged on Friday, clearing the way for the start of trials, according to officials of Patna Metro Corporation and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The first phase of testing will involve an 800-metre stretch of track inside the depot, where engineers will carry out safety checks and address technical issues. The trial will not extend to the elevated tracks initially.

Four power transformers of 30 MVA each have been installed at the depot’s receiving station to convert transmission lines for metro use. Two of these will convert the 132 kV line into 33 kV to power station facilities such as escalators and lifts, while the other two will convert it to 25 kV to run the trains.
Once operational, the metro will cover a 6.5 km stretch from Malahi Pakadi to the new Patliputra bus terminal, with stops at Malahi Pakadi, Bhootnath, Zeromile and the bus terminal. Work on Khemnichak station is still underway, while finishing touches are being applied to other stations.
