Patna: In Patna, the municipal administration has launched a special drive to repair and replace dilapidated manholes following directives issued at a review meeting on February 23. The initiative, announced by Patna Municipal Corporation, aims to address safety concerns across all civic zones.
Officials said the repairs are being carried out “on a war footing” in areas where manholes are damaged, open or deemed hazardous. The municipal commissioner emphasised that public safety would be treated as the highest priority and that lapses in maintenance would not be tolerated. Executive officers and engineers have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and ensure durable solutions.
A zone-wise survey has produced a compiled list of problematic sites, and a targeted programme is under way to address high-risk locations. The corporation has also appealed to residents to report defective or open manholes to its control room or helpline (toll-free 155304) or via a WhatsApp chatbot (9264447449) so that prompt remedial action can be taken.
Municipal authorities described the campaign as part of broader efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve civic safety.
