Patna: Patna will soon witness a major boost to its road infrastructure with nine crucial roads in the Patna Sahib Assembly constituency slated for renovation at a total cost of Rs 22.17 crore. The foundation stones for these projects were laid on Monday by Bihar Road Construction Minister and Bankipur MLA Nitin Nabin along with Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav. The ceremony was organised at Karan Samrat Community Hall in Bajrangpuri and Vishwakarma Community Hall at Chowk Shikarpur. The event was attended by Ward 54 Councillor Vinay Kumar Bala, Ward 62 Councillor Tara Devi and a large gathering of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Nabin said that the completion of these projects would bring direct benefits to the residents. “The construction and strengthening of these nine roads will lead to smoother traffic flow, reduce travel time and improve connectivity in the entire region. This will also give a boost to local businesses, trade and job opportunities. Most importantly, these roads will provide much-needed relief from the persistent problem of waterlogging during the monsoon season,” he said. He further informed that the tender process for all nine roads has already been completed and construction work would begin soon.
Nabin stressed that the state government is prioritising urban infrastructure development, particularly in congested and flood-prone areas like Patna. “Our goal is to ensure freedom from traffic jams and waterlogging. The NDA government is committed to improving the lives of common people by investing in better roads and drainage facilities. The impact of these works will soon be visible on the ground and felt by everyone,” he added.
The nine projects cover several major stretches that are crucial for daily commuters. They include the 3 km City Court to Khajekala Path road, which will be strengthened at a cost of Rs 1.48 crore, the 2.5 km Shershah Path at Rs 2.04 crore, the 2.2 km Service-cum-Haulage Path at Rs 4.78 crore and the 1.4 km Shershah Link Path at Rs 2.33 crore. Other roads being strengthened include the 3 km Shershah Path to Bhikhna Pahadi via Gur Ki Mandi Path (Rs 4.43 crore) and the 1.17 km Kumhrar-Sandalpur-Shanichara Path (Rs 2.15 crore). Together, these projects will upgrade more than 15 km of roads across Patna, offering a long-term solution to poor road conditions and drainage issues.
Residents present at the event welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the work would be completed on time and improve daily commuting. Many said that the roads had been in bad shape for years, causing frequent traffic jams and damage to vehicles. With this renovation drive, Patna Sahib is expected to see not just better roads but also improved civic amenities, contributing to the overall development of the constituency.
