Patna: Students at Presidency Global School in Patna traded classrooms for competition this week as the campus hosted its annual sports festival, bringing together track events, team games and martial arts demonstrations in a day-long celebration of athleticism.
The festival was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by Dr Gaurav Mishra, a urologist; Sanjay Sharma, political adviser to the chief minister; educator Amit Anand; educationist Sachin Rajput; managing director Ram Sufal Prasad; director Sanish Kumar; and principal Alka Rai.

The event opened with a march past by students before moving into a series of competitions including the 100m and 200m races, javelin throw, kabaddi and volleyball. Abhinav Kumar and Palak Kumari of Class IX secured first place in the 100m race, while Atul Kumar, also of Class IX, topped the javelin event.
Other activities included judo, karate, relay races and a Zumba performance. In a nod to community involvement, parents took part in a musical chairs contest, drawing cheers from students gathered around the field.
Winners were presented with certificates and gold medals in a closing ceremony that emphasised participation as much as podium finishes.

Ram Sufal Prasad, the school’s managing director and chairman, said sport fostered discipline and positive thinking. Director Sanish Kumar described physical activity as essential for mental development, while principal Alka Rai told students that sport offered expanding career opportunities for those willing to work hard.
Teachers and guests attending the festival encouraged students to balance academic pursuits with athletic ambition, describing the annual event as a reminder that education extends beyond the classroom.
