Patna: A new fast passenger train connecting Patna and Thawe will begin operations from March 15, 2026, in a move aimed at improving rail connectivity and convenience for passengers travelling between the two destinations.
The train, numbered 55515/55516, will operate daily between Patna Junction and Thawe via Patliputra and Dighwara, railway officials said.
The new service will consist of 24 coaches, including 22 general class coaches and two SLRD (seating-cum-luggage rake) coaches.
According to the schedule, train number 55515 Patna–Thawe Fast Passenger will depart from Patna Junction at 12.10pm each day. It will halt at Phulwarisharif at 12.13pm, Patliputra at 12.40pm, Digha Bridge Halt at 12.52pm and Dighwara at 1.50pm before continuing its journey.
The train will also stop at Goldinganj at 2.55pm and is scheduled to arrive at Thawe at 7.00pm.
On the return journey, train number 55516 Thawe–Patna Fast Passenger will depart from Thawe at 8.05pm daily.
During its return trip, it will halt at several stations, including Goldinganj at 12.40am, Dighwara at 1.00am, Digha Bridge Halt at 1.55am, Patliputra at 2.05am and Phulwarisharif at 2.25am.
The train is expected to reach Patna Junction at 3.20am the following day.
Railway officials said the introduction of the service is intended to provide additional travel options for passengers while strengthening connectivity between Patna and parts of north Bihar.
