Patna: Students at Patna Women’s College were introduced to the rapidly evolving world of robotics and artificial intelligence during an interactive session that focused on how emerging technologies are transforming society.
The session, titled Engineering the Future with Robotics and AI, was organised jointly by the departments of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Data Science and Analytics on January 8. It brought together around 100 students keen to understand how theoretical learning translates into real-world innovation.

Addressing the gathering, robotics expert Vivekanand Prasad discussed the integration of AI with robotic systems and its practical applications across sectors. He highlighted projects such as an air quality monitoring system powered by edge AI and a health counselling chatbot, illustrating how intelligent machines can address environmental and healthcare challenges.
“AI and robotics are creating intelligent systems that are transforming the world,” Prasad said, stressing that technological progress must ultimately serve society as a whole.

The programme opened with welcome remarks from Poonam Abraham Lakra, head of the AI and machine learning department, and Dr Priyadarshini from the department of data science and analytics. The discussion concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing students to engage directly with the ethical, technical and social dimensions of AI-driven innovation.
Summing up the session, Dr Priyadarshini outlined key takeaways for students, encouraging them to approach emerging technologies with both technical curiosity and social responsibility.
The event reflected a growing emphasis within higher education on preparing students not just for technology-driven careers, but also for the wider societal impact of artificial intelligence and automation.
