Patna: Patna Women’s College inducted 175 students into its ECO Task Force on September 16, marking World Ozone Day with a ceremony focused on environmental awareness and conservation.
The Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, organised the oath-taking ceremony in collaboration with the ECO Task Force (ETF). The programme aimed to sensitise students to environmental protection and encourage them to adopt responsible and sustainable practices.
175 Students Take Environmental Oath
Students from different departments of the college joined the ECO Task Force and took an oath pledging to contribute to the protection and conservation of the environment.
The oath was administered by Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College. While welcoming the new members, she highlighted their responsibility towards protecting the environment and urged them to turn their commitment into meaningful action.
She encouraged the students to lead by example and inspire others to follow environmentally responsible practices.
Students Learn About Ozone Layer
Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Head of the Department of Zoology and Vice President of the ECO Task Force, welcomed the newly inducted members.
Addressing the students, Dr. Ranjan explained the importance of the ozone layer and its role in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. He stressed the need for continued efforts to protect the ozone layer and conserve the environment.
He also highlighted the role of young people in environmental conservation and encouraged students to become role models for sustainable and responsible practices.

ECO Task Force Sashes Distributed
The ceremony also focused on strengthening a sense of responsibility among the new members.
ECO Task Force sashes were distributed to the newly inducted students, symbolising their association with the organisation and their commitment to environmental protection.
The programme concluded with the ECO Task Force Anthem, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility and environmental awareness among the students.
Zoology Faculty Attend Programme
Faculty members of the Department of Zoology attended the ceremony and extended their support to the newly inducted members.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Sumeet Ranjan with the objective of nurturing environmental consciousness among students and encouraging them to participate actively in efforts to protect and conserve the planet.
The World Ozone Day programme provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the importance of the ozone layer while taking on a formal role in the college’s environmental initiatives.
