Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has started a major step to improve how the city’s water pipelines, drains and roads are managed. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, where officials were instructed to complete the geofencing of all major civic structures at the earliest. This digital mapping will allow the corporation to monitor the city’s infrastructure more clearly and take quick action whenever a problem is reported.
A key part of this plan is the colour coding of water supply pipelines across Patna. Over the years, different pipelines have been laid at different times, and it has become difficult to identify which ones are old, new or no longer in use. To solve this, pipelines installed after 2016 will be painted green, those installed before 2016 will be marked yellow, dead pipelines will be painted red, and pump houses will be shown in blue. This will help engineers easily understand the condition of a pipeline and repair it without delay.
Along with pipelines, roads and drains in the Patna Municipal Corporation area are also being geofenced. This system will be linked to the grievance redressal platform so that every complaint is mapped to an exact location. Once a citizen registers a complaint, the system will show which road, drain or pipeline is affected, and the same issue will not be recorded twice.
Officials say that after this system is fully implemented, complaints will be resolved much faster. The headquarters will be able to track issues instantly, and concerned staff will be sent directly to the spot. With this new technology, Patna Municipal Corporation hopes to provide better services and make the city cleaner, safer and more organised.
