Over 80,000 Students Apply for Undergraduate Courses at Patliputra University Ahead of June 6 Deadline

PPU records strong response to UG programmes as History, Zoology and Political Science emerge as most sought-after subjects under the Samarth portal admission system.

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has received 80,696 applications for undergraduate admissions so far, reflecting sustained student interest across disciplines. The university has confirmed that the application window will close on June 6.

History Tops Preference List

According to official data, B.A. History has emerged as the most applied-for subject with 18,105 applications. It is followed by B.Sc. Zoology with 11,022 applications and B.A. Political Science with 8,776 applications.

Other major preferences include Geography with 7,469 applications, Hindi with 7,188, and Physics with 6,083 applications.

Science and Commerce Response

In the Faculty of Science, subjects such as Zoology, Physics, Botany, Mathematics and Chemistry have seen steady demand from applicants.

In the Faculty of Commerce, the B.Com programme has received 2,598 applications, according to university data.

New Courses and NEP Influence

University officials said there is growing interest in employment-oriented programmes aligned with the New Education Policy. B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence (Self-Financed) has received 139 applications, while the newly introduced B.Sc. Digital Electronics programme has also drawn applications.

Language courses have also recorded varied interest, including Urdu with 503 applications, Sanskrit with 157, Pali with 15, Bhojpuri with 7, Bangla with 6, Magahi with 5, Arabic with 3 and Maithili with 12.

Admission Timeline

The university will keep the portal open for corrections on June 7 and June 8. The first merit list is scheduled for publication on June 12.

Admissions are being conducted through the ‘Samarth’ portal for the first time, which officials said aims to streamline the process.

Official Statement

Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Rajiv Ranjan said the high number of applications reflects the academic environment at the university, along with student interest in newly introduced courses.

He added that the next phase will include merit list publication and college allotment, urging candidates to complete applications within the deadline.

Postgraduate Results Released

In a separate update, Patliputra University has released the Postgraduate 4th Semester results for the 2024–26 session.

Controller of Examinations Prof. Manoj Kumar said the results have been uploaded on the university’s official website and students can access them online.

He added that the university is committed to completing academic and examination processes within scheduled timelines.
