Patna: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, freshly appointed as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election in-charge for Bihar, kicked off “Mission Bihar” in Patna on Saturday with a door-to-door campaign aimed at energising grassroots workers and connecting with voters directly.
Launching his campaign from West Patel Nagar, Pradhan was joined by senior leaders including former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Digha MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, and Sanjay Mayukh. Together with hundreds of BJP workers, they canvassed in the Digha assembly constituency, speaking to residents and shopkeepers.

The move marks the first time Pradhan has taken to the streets since being given charge of Bihar’s campaign by the BJP’s central leadership earlier this week. Party insiders said his presence underscored the seriousness with which the BJP is approaching the 2025 assembly elections, with a focus on direct engagement at the booth level.
Pradhan, often described as the BJP’s “electoral Chanakya,” has previously been credited with helping the party consolidate in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. He was also at the helm of the party’s Bihar campaign during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, when the BJP scored a decisive victory in the state.
By handing him the reins again, the BJP leadership has signalled its faith in his organisational abilities and election strategy. Party officials indicated that his campaign will expand to other districts in the coming weeks, sharpening the BJP’s approach as seat-sharing talks within the NDA continue.
