Bettiah: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led NDA government during her election rally in Chanpatia, Bettiah, accusing it of creating an “empire of exploitation” where ordinary citizens are forced to struggle while billionaires thrive.
Addressing the gathering, Priyanka said, “In the last 20 years, the government has only taught you to struggle. From the land of Champaran, where India’s freedom movement began, the voice of farmers once reached Mahatma Gandhi. Today, it’s not the British empire but Modi’s empire that rules. Everything has become expensive under his regime.”
She alleged that the Modi government’s policies had crushed farmers and the poor. “Farmers take loans and are left broke paying the interest. Their debts are never forgiven, but Ambani and Adani’s loans worth millions of crores are waived. This is Modi’s India,” she said to loud applause.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she remarked, “The Prime Minister doesn’t even bring Bihar’s Chief Minister on his stage. Instead, he spends time worrying about whether Tejashwi’s picture on Congress posters is big or small. He’s concerned about Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi’s future, not the country’s.”
Earlier in the day, addressing a rally in Valmiki Nagar, Priyanka defended her brother Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against alleged electoral fraud in Bihar. “Rahul led a march against vote theft. The BJP called it a march for infiltrators. I ask them—are the people of Bihar infiltrators? The BJP does not want to work for the welfare of society. Every section deserves opportunity and respect,” she said.
Criticising the government’s handling of Bihar’s economy, Priyanka said, “What happened to the industries once built in Bihar? Earlier, people dreamed of working in government factories, but Modi handed everything over to his two friends. Now, even public factories are being contracted out. The assets of the nation are being sold off.”
She also took aim at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying he had lost control of the administration. “No one listens to Nitish Kumar. The government is run from Delhi. When Modi comes to Bihar, he talks about everything except employment. He is more worried about the size of pictures on Congress posters than about Bihar’s youth.”
