Patna: Congress General Secretary and MP Priyanka Gandhi made her first independent political outreach in Bihar on Friday, addressing around 2,000 women at Patna’s Sadakat Ashram and urging them to “recognise their power” in shaping the state’s future.
At the “Shakti Adhikar” event, she told women ranging from domestic workers and Anganwadi staff to professionals that political parties sought their votes with cash handouts but failed to deliver dignity or opportunity. “You don’t recognise your power. But the parties do. That’s why they give you money before the elections. They know they can’t form a government without your support,” Priyanka said.

She also highlighted unemployment and migration in Bihar, pointing out that many men were forced to work outside the state, leaving women to manage alone. “There are no employment opportunities here,” she added.
The event saw women sharing personal struggles with Priyanka, including problems faced by MNREGA workers, Jeevika members and Asha workers. Before her arrival, women in the crowd shouted “vote thieves, leave the throne.”

Priyanka concluded the programme by taking selfies with the audience and singing “Hum Honge Kamyaab” with them. After the event, she travelled to Motihari for a rally at Gandhi Maidan.
