Raxaul: Rail connectivity between Bihar and South India is set to improve significantly, with the Railway Ministry approving a new express train from Raxaul to Tirupati.
According to BJP MP Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, train number 17434/17433 Raxaul–Tirupati Express will operate as a permanent service, marking a major development for passengers in East and West Champaran districts.
The announcement has sparked celebrations across the region, with local leaders and residents welcoming the move. Among those expressing gratitude were MLA Pramod Sinha and several community representatives, who described the development as a long-awaited step towards better connectivity.
The new train is expected to ease travel for pilgrims, creating a direct link between important religious destinations. It is seen as a cultural and spiritual bridge connecting Pashupatinath in Kathmandu with the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga in South India.
Apart from facilitating pilgrimage, the service is also expected to boost economic activity in Raxaul, a key border town, by improving access to southern states and enhancing trade and travel opportunities.
Officials said the introduction of the train reflects ongoing efforts to expand rail connectivity and improve passenger convenience across regions.
