Patna: Days after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) suffered a major setback in the Bihar Assembly elections, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has called a crucial review meeting on Monday. The meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. at his official residence on Polo Road, will bring together all winning and losing candidates to assess what went wrong during the campaign.
Party insiders said Tejashwi has specially invited the losing candidates, aiming to gather firsthand feedback from constituencies where the RJD performed poorly. He is expected to ask each candidate about local factors that contributed to the defeat and the challenges they encountered on the ground.
According to sources, the RJD leadership wants to closely examine why segments of its traditional vote bank shifted and where the party’s organization weakened during the election cycle.
Core Issues to Be Reviewed
The meeting will delve into several key points, including local dissatisfaction, internal factional politics, weak booth-level management, and the party’s failure to communicate its agenda effectively. The leadership will also review whether errors in ticket distribution or unresolved internal disputes hurt the party’s prospects.
Tejashwi will reportedly evaluate whether candidate selection aligned with ground realities and whether the party could have handled worker dissatisfaction more effectively.
Focus on Strategy and Alliance Dynamics
Sources said the review will extend to the RJD’s overall campaign approach, including its social media presence, messaging strategy, and coordination with Grand Alliance partners. Disagreements over seat-sharing are believed to have weakened the coalition’s collective campaign, contributing to the defeat.
Party leaders view this meeting not only as a post-election assessment but also as the starting point for a new strategic direction. Tejashwi is expected to push for revitalizing the organization, strengthening booth-level structures, and giving more responsibility to young leaders to rebuild momentum ahead of future elections.
