Patna: A Sikh woman from Punjab was robbed and stabbed while visiting Patna Sahib on Sunday morning, raising fresh concerns about security during the annual Gurupurab celebrations.
Uttam Preet Kaur, accompanied by her aunt, was walking from the main Gurdwara to the Bal Leela Gurdwara when two unidentified men attacked her in the Chowk police station area. The assailants allegedly stole Rs 8,000 in cash and her mobile phone. When Kaur resisted, she was stabbed before the criminals fled.
Local residents rushed Kaur to Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH), where she received immediate treatment. Doctors reported that her condition stabilized following initial care, and she has since been discharged.
Patna Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the Gurdwara and surrounding streets to track down the perpetrators.
The attack, occurring during one of the city’s most significant religious events, has prompted questions about the adequacy of security measures and police patrolling during Gurupurab.
