Patna: A brass band from India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) performed a programme of patriotic music at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Patna, marking 150 years since the composition of the country’s national song.
The performance took place outside the administrative building of the AIIMS campus and featured a 17-member brass band from the SSB’s Frontier Headquarters in Patna. Led by head constable Rupesh Ranjan, the ensemble played a selection of well-known patriotic tunes, drawing an audience of doctors, staff and officials from the institute.

Hospital administrators said the event was intended to commemorate the anniversary and foster a sense of national unity. The executive director of AIIMS Patna, Prof (Brig) Raju Agrawal, attended the programme along with the deputy director (administration), Nilotpal Bal, and the dean (academic), Dr Poonam Prasad Bhadani.

Staff members and visitors paused to listen as the music echoed across the campus, briefly transforming the hospital’s routine atmosphere. Attendees described the performance as uplifting, with several noting its symbolic significance amid the pressures of healthcare work.

Officials from the SSB said the initiative was part of a broader effort to mark the anniversary of the national song through public performances and cultural outreach, highlighting themes of unity and collective identity.
The event concluded without disruption to hospital services, with organisers emphasising that such programmes were aimed at strengthening civic engagement through music and shared cultural memory.
