Patna: A fresh rift has emerged within the Lalu Prasad family, with Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s sister, Rohini Acharya, announcing that she has cut ties with him following the RJD’s defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. Her decision comes amid claims from some quarters that the family’s turmoil is linked to Shani Dosh, an astrological belief involving Saturn’s influence.
Astrologers commenting on the situation have suggested that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is currently under the Mahadasha of Mercury and Antardasha of Rahu, along with the final phase of Saturn’s Sade Sati. They say Saturn’s position is “hindering Rajyoga” and may be contributing to political and personal setbacks.
Rohini Acharya, who had actively supported her brother in earlier political campaigns, posted an emotional message on social media stating she was “leaving politics and abandoning [her] family”, claiming she was pressured into this step. “Sanjay Yadav and Rameez asked me to do this, and I am taking all the blame on myself,” she wrote.
I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family …
This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do …nd I’m taking all the blame’s— Rohini Acharya (@RohiniAcharya2) November 15, 2025
However, speaking to reporters, she insisted she had no personal dispute with her parents or siblings, instead alleging internal pressure and exclusion. “Go and ask Sanjay, Ravish, and Tejashwi about this,” she said. “I don’t have a family. They expelled me. If anyone takes their names at home, they are thrown out, defamed, even beaten with slippers.”

Her comments have intensified speculation about deepening tensions within the RJD’s leadership circle. Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder brother, has long been politically isolated, and analysts say the latest development signals an unusual public fracture in one of Bihar’s most influential political families.
Adding to the controversy, Bhojpuri actor and former candidate Khesari Lal Yadav expressed anguish over his electoral defeat and voiced frustration with Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership. “I put my career at stake,” he said. “This was the first time in my life I had to make a decision within an hour. I couldn’t say no. I was helpless.”

Fighting back tears in a video message, he said his choice to contest had cost him “five years of income” but thanked the people of Chhapra for their support. “I was your son before, I am your son now, and I will remain your son,” he said, adding that he would return to music because “I cannot live without singing”.
While Khesari did not directly criticise Tejashwi, his tone suggested dissatisfaction with the RJD leader’s handling of the campaign.
