Kishanganj: At a fiery election rally in Thakurganj on Thursday, Bihar’s Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the ruling NDA government, predicting that Kumar would not return as Chief Minister after the upcoming elections.
Speaking at the MH Azad College campus in support of RJD candidate and outgoing MLA Saud Alam, Yadav claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had hinted at growing internal discord within the NDA by stating that MLAs would choose the Chief Minister post-election. “This clearly shows that the alliance is deeply divided,” Yadav told the crowd.
Addressing thousands of supporters, the RJD leader urged voters to deliver a “landslide victory” for Saud Alam to ensure the formation of a Grand Alliance government in Bihar. “Our uncle is now unconscious, so only the conscious public will take care of Bihar,” he quipped, taking a swipe at Nitish Kumar.
Yadav criticised the NDA government’s track record in Seemanchal, citing persistent issues of unemployment, migration, illiteracy, poverty, and corruption. He accused government hospitals of offering no real treatment, saying, “There are only referrals — now it’s not the patients who need referrals, but the government itself that needs to be ousted.”
Condemning the “rampant corruption” in government offices, Yadav said nothing moved without bribes. He also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “not only a factory of lies, but also its manufacturer, wholesaler, and distributor.”
Referring to the AMU Centre in Kishanganj, Yadav claimed that although it was established under the UPA government, progress had stalled under the NDA. “This time, don’t give us twenty years — just twenty months — and we will put Bihar on the path of development in every field,” he pledged.
Supporting Yadav’s attack, MP Dr Javed Azad accused the BJP of “stealing votes under the pretext of SIR” and criticised the party for withholding funds for the AMU centre. He also condemned what he described as the BJP’s “black law” targeting Waqf Board properties, vowing that such interference “will not be tolerated at any cost.”
