Saran: Two men have been found murdered in separate incidents in Saran, Bihar, in the space of 24 hours, prompting police to launch parallel investigations into the killings, both marked by extreme brutality.
The first victim, identified as 55-year-old Suraj Prasad, was discovered inside his home in Dakshin Tola, Manjhi Nagar Panchayat. Police said Prasad’s body was found under a bed, bearing severe injuries, including mutilation of his private parts and acid thrown into his eyes. Investigators believe he was stabbed after being assaulted.
According to neighbours, Prasad had been living alone in the house for several years while his family stayed in rented accommodation in Chhapra. His son, Ritesh Kumar, said the family had “no information yet about why he was murdered,” describing him as a farmer who had lived in the village for 15 years.

A forensic team visited the crime scene and collected samples. “Blood samples and other evidence have been collected from the crime scene. People in the surrounding area are being questioned,” said Saran SSP Dr Kumar Ashish. Police say all possible motives, including family disputes, are being examined.
In a separate incident in Jakhua village under Revelganj police station, the body of 25-year-old Rohit Kumar was found near a railway track early on Tuesday morning. Residents who discovered the body said Kumar’s left hand had been severed and his throat slit.
Kumar, a welder working in Gujarat, had returned home to attend his sister’s wedding. His wife told police that he had stepped out late at night after receiving a phone call and did not return.
Police have seized his phone and sent the body for postmortem examination. “An investigation into the incident has been launched, and necessary instructions have been given to the police officers,” SSP Ashish said.
The two killings have left residents of Saran on edge, with police teams deployed in both areas to gather evidence and identify those responsible.
