Patna: Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced another explosive batting display in IPL 2026, scoring a century off just 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, further underlining his reputation as one of the tournament’s most destructive young batters.
The innings of 103 from 37 deliveries, laced with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, marked the third-fastest century in IPL history. It also added another milestone to Suryavanshi’s growing list of rapid-scoring feats, with the batter now the first player in the league’s history to register two centuries in under 40 balls.
The performance ensured he moved to the top of the Orange Cap standings, reflecting a season of sustained high-impact batting.
Among the standout moments of his innings was a “helicopter shot” that drew loud reactions from the crowd and inevitably prompted comparisons with MS Dhoni, who popularised the stroke in Indian cricket.
Suryavanshi had previously made headlines in IPL 2025 when he scored a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans, a knock that established him as one of the fastest Indian centurions in the format.
His latest innings came to an end when he was dismissed by Prafull Hinge, offering Sunrisers Hyderabad brief respite after a sustained onslaught.
Suryavanshi’s continued run of form has made him one of the most closely watched players of the season, with his rapid scoring ability and consistency placing him firmly in discussions about the league’s emerging batting talents.
