Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav, son of party supremo Lalu Prasad, has come under fire after a video surfaced showing him ordering a police constable on duty to dance at a Holi event in Patna. In the video, Tej Pratap is heard telling the officer, “Thumka nahi lagaoge toh suspend kar denge” (If you don’t dance, you’ll be suspended). The policeman, seemingly pressured, complied with the demand, dancing briefly.

The video has since gone viral, drawing sharp criticism from political leaders and netizens, many of whom have labeled the act as “Jungle Raj” and “Gundagardi” (hooliganism).

Political Backlash

Leaders from rival parties were quick to condemn the incident. JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad criticised Tej Pratap’s behaviour, stating: “‘Jungle Raj’ has ended, but the ‘Yuvraj’ (prince) of Lalu Yadav continues to issue threats. Bihar has changed, and Tej Pratap, Tejashwi, and their family must realise that such actions have no place in today’s Bihar.”

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also slammed the act, comparing it to Lalu Prasad’s tenure as chief minister: “Like father, like son. Lalu Yadav once made the law dance to his tunes, turning Bihar into Jungle Raj. Now, his son, despite being out of power, is using threats to force a police officer to dance. This is proof that RJD still believes in Jungle Raj. If they return to power, they will violate the law and force its protectors to dance to their tunes.”

Even opposition leaders distanced themselves from Tej Pratap’s behaviour. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “I strongly condemn this statement.“
