Rajya Sabha Nomination: JDU's Sanjay Jha, Congress' Akhilesh Singh, RJD's Sanjay Yadav, and Manoj Jha Nominated for Upper House

Patna: With the clock ticking down to the deadline for Rajya Sabha nominations, Bihar’s political arena is abuzz with fervent activity as candidates from across party lines vie for coveted seats in the upper house of Parliament. Thursday marks the final day for nominations, and parties are leaving no stone unturned to assert their dominance in this electoral battleground.

In a flurry of political maneuvering, candidates representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal United (JDU), and Congress have already thrown their hats into the ring. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has sprung a surprise by replacing Ashfaq Karim with Sanjay Yadav, a close confidant of former deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, signaling a recalibration of strategy ahead of the elections. This move reaffirms RJD’s unwavering support for Manoj Jha, underlining the party’s commitment to its stalwarts.

Among the frontrunners, former minister and JDU candidate Sanjay Jha made a prominent appearance as he filed his nomination papers. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, along with Vijay Sinha and MP Lalan Singh, lent their support to Jha, bolstering his candidacy.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity bestowed upon him, Sanjay Jha pledged to champion Bihar’s interests in the Rajya Sabha. “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has entrusted me with a significant responsibility, and I am committed to addressing the issues plaguing Bihar and advancing the state’s agenda,” Jha asserted, outlining his vision for the future.

As the political spectacle unfolds, all eyes are on Bihar’s electoral landscape, with contenders vying not only for Rajya Sabha seats but also setting their sights on the looming Lok Sabha elections. Amidst promises of job creation and industrial development, the state braces for a flurry of political activity that will shape its destiny in the days to come.

Simultaneously, the Congress contingent, led by State President Akhilesh Singh, marked their presence by submitting nomination forms. Former ministers Dr. Bhim Singh and Dharamsheela Gupta represented the BJP, underscoring the party’s resolve to clinch key positions in the upper house.

Akhilesh Prasad Singh, the state president of the Bihar unit of Congress, reiterated the party’s solidarity in the face of Nitish Kumar’s recent realignment with the NDA. “Nitish Kumar’s flip-flopping won’t affect our alliance. We stand united and will continue to do so in the future,” Singh affirmed, taking a swipe at Kumar’s political volte-face.
