Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a large gathering in Bodhgaya on Friday, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for infrastructure and development projects worth more than Rs 13,000 crore. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will accompany him for the event, which will be held on the Magadh University campus and reach six districts and 30 assembly constituencies.

The meeting will also feature speeches from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) workers representing Gaya, Aurangabad, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Arwal and Nawada districts. This marks Modi’s sixth visit to Bihar since the Lok Sabha elections, following previous public meetings in Jamui, Madhubani, Motihari, Siwan and Vikramganj. The next assembly constituency-focused meeting is scheduled for Purnia in September.

Major projects to be inaugurated

From Bodhgaya, PM Modi will inaugurate six projects and lay the foundation stone for eight others. The projects being inaugurated, with a combined value of Rs 11,735 crore, include a 660 MW thermal power plant in Buxar (Rs 6,878 crore), a sewerage network and STP project in Munger (Rs 523 crore), a Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur (Rs 385 crore), construction of a four-to-six-lane Ganga Bridge on NH-31 between Mokhama and Simaria (Rs 1,871 crore), upgrades to the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokhama NH-31 road (Rs 1,899 crore), and the upgradation of the Bikramganj–Dawath–Navangar–Dumraon road to two lanes (Rs 179 crore).

The foundation stones of eight projects worth Rs 1,257 crore will also be laid, including sewerage networks and STPs in Daudnagar and Aurangabad, STPs in Barhiya (Lakhisarai) and Jamui, and water supply and sewage treatment projects in Bodh Gaya and Jehanabad.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Modi will symbolically hand over keys to 4,260 urban and 12,000 rural beneficiaries, including five principal recipients—three from rural areas and two from urban centres.

The prime minister will also flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddha Circuit train connecting Vaishali and Koderma.

Itinerary and travel

PM Modi will arrive at Gaya International Airport and, following the Bodhgaya event, will travel by helicopter to Simaria Dham in Begusarai district to inaugurate the country’s widest six-bridge directly from a helipad, also touring the bridge. He will conclude his Bihar visit by departing from Patna.
