Samastipur: A labourer was found dead in Samastipur after being allegedly murdered for resisting a bike robbery. The body of Mithlesh Kumar, a 25-year-old plumber from Jitwariya village in Kalyanpur, was discovered hanging from a jamun tree in Belsandi Chaur on Saturday morning. His hands were tied with a black scarf, and there were marks of strangulation on his neck.
Police said initial investigations suggest that he was attacked when he resisted the theft of his bike. His helmet and tiffin were found near the body, while his bike and mobile phone were missing.
According to family members, Mithlesh had left home on Friday morning for work and called his wife around midnight, saying he was returning. When he did not reach home and his phone was switched off, the family began searching for him. A milk vendor spotted his body in the morning and alerted locals.
Mithlesh, who was married 2 years ago, leaves behind a wife and a young child. Police confirmed the case is being investigated as suspected murder during a robbery.
