Patna: Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital inaugurated its new Patna Vision Lounge on Saturday, aiming to make advanced eye care more accessible to residents of the capital.
The ribbon-cutting was led by Development Commissioner S Siddharth at Telegraph Colony near Income Tax Golambar. Additional Chief Secretary of Animal and Fisheries Resources Department N Vijayalakshmi attended as special guest.
Siddharth said the facility would serve as a bridge between Patna and Akhand Jyoti’s Centre of Excellence in Mastichak, where he was “surprised to see the scale and quality” of services. “Patients are being served selflessly, and the Football to Eyeball programme is also creating opportunities for women,” he added.
N Vijayalakshmi described the hospital as “a place where you don’t feel like you are in a hospital” and praised the compassionate conduct of its medical staff.
Akhand Jyoti’s CEO Mrityunjay Tiwari said the lounge would be connected to the Mastichak hospital using AI technology for eye screening, vision tests, and consultations with specialists. Patients will also have access to high-quality glasses produced in the hospital’s own lab.
Business leaders also praised the initiative. Bihar Chamber of Commerce president Subhash Patwari said he had “never seen such a good eye hospital,” while Bihar Industries Association president KPS Keshari called the facilities “world class.”
The event featured cultural performances, with Rashmi Mishra presenting Guruvandana, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Dhananjay. A number of prominent citizens, including PK Agarwal, Ramlal Khetan, NK Thakur, PK Sinha, Ashish Shankar, Manish Tiwari, DN Singh, Sujay Saurabh, Sumit Chawla and Arun Kumar, were present.
