Patna: Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Samrat Choudhary has hit back at Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor after being accused of concealing his age, forging documents, and being implicated in two high-profile murder cases.
At a press conference in Patna on Monday, Kishor demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sack Choudhary, alleging his involvement in the 1995 Danapur killings and the infamous Shilpi-Gautam case of 1999. Kishor further accused him of falsifying his age and educational details in election affidavits.
Responding indirectly, Choudhary accused Kishor of “doing Khoji Patrakarita (investigative journalism) when there is no issue,” saying that such matters should be dealt with in the appropriate forum. “To protect their own corruption, they are trying to impose it on others,” Choudhary said, adding that Kishor should first respond to allegations against himself.
BJP leaders came out strongly in Choudhary’s defence. Party spokesperson Danish Iqbal announced that Kishor would face legal notices for his “baseless charges” and warned that he could end up in jail. He insisted Choudhary had already been acquitted in related cases in 1997 and 1998.
Another spokesperson, Kuntal Krishna, labelled Kishor a “political swindler,” accusing him of targeting BJP leaders without evidence and attempting to “pave the way for jungle raj in Bihar.”
The escalating war of words comes as the state gears up for the 2025 assembly elections, with Kishor intensifying attacks on NDA leaders as part of his Jan Suraaj campaign.
