Saran: In Saran district, the police carried out a major operation within just 24 hours and arrested 47 accused connected to different criminal activities, mainly the liquor mafia. The action came soon after the formation of the new government, which has promised strict steps against illegal liquor trade and all types of crime. The successful crackdown has created fear among those involved in liquor smuggling and other illegal activities in the district.
The campaign was launched on the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Kumar Ashish. Police teams were sent across the district to raid several areas where illegal liquor trade was suspected. Officers focused especially on people with warrants, liquor dealers, and those involved in making, storing or transporting illegal alcohol. This sudden and large-scale action surprised criminal groups, who were not expecting such strict monitoring.
Police confirmed that the 47 arrested include 13 people against whom warrants were already issued, 17 liquor dealers, 12 people involved in liquor trade, two accused in attempted murder cases, one accused of housebreaking, and two others linked to different crimes. During the raids, the police recovered 405.78 litres of illegal liquor, including 362.50 litres of country liquor, 20.48 litres of foreign liquor, and 22.80 litres of spirit used for alcohol manufacturing. Officers also seized two motorcycles, two mobile phones, one gas cylinder, one gas stove, a tempo vehicle, and six stolen items.
Along with the criminal crackdown, police also launched a special drive to enforce traffic rules in the district. A total fine of Rs 1,55,500 was collected from 71 vehicles found violating traffic guidelines. The police said that enforcing traffic regulations is equally necessary to maintain law and order and ensure road safety for the public.
Police officials said that this campaign will continue in the coming days so that the district remains safer and crime remains under control. They requested the public to cooperate with law enforcement and inform the nearest police station immediately if they witness any suspicious activity. According to the police, maintaining law and order becomes stronger when citizens and police work together.
