Patna: The Bihar government has launched a digital platform aimed at strengthening engagement with the global Bihari diaspora and encouraging greater participation in the state’s development, innovation and investment initiatives.
The portal, launched by Information Technology Minister Nitish Mishra on Tuesday, has been developed by the Department of Information Technology to create a direct channel between the state government and people of Bihari origin living across India and abroad.
The launch event was attended by Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Information Technology.
Platform For Ideas, Collaboration And Investment
Speaking at the launch, Mishra said Bihar’s greatest strength lies in its people, many of whom are contributing to leading institutions, companies and research organisations around the world.
He said the state government aims to harness the expertise, experience, innovation and investment potential of the global Bihari community to support Bihar’s economic and technological development.
“The people of Bihar living across the world wish to contribute to the development of their homeland, and the government is committed to providing them with a meaningful platform to do so,” Mishra said.
According to the department, the portal will enable members of the diaspora to submit suggestions, proposals for collaboration, voluntary contributions and investment plans directly to the government.
Officials said the initiative is intended to create a long-term mechanism for dialogue and cooperation between Bihar and its global community.
Three Routes For Engagement
The portal has been structured around three principal modes of participation.
Under the “Change Maker” category, individuals can share ideas, expertise, innovations and policy suggestions related to Bihar’s development.
A “Volunteer” section allows users to offer support for social, developmental and technical initiatives being undertaken across the state.
The third category, “Investment”, is designed for entrepreneurs, investors and businesses interested in establishing industries, creating employment opportunities and expanding economic activity in Bihar.
The government said the platform seeks to facilitate engagement at multiple levels, ranging from knowledge-sharing and collaboration to investment and enterprise development.
Inspired By Bihar AI Summit Call
Mishra said the initiative was developed in line with the broader vision of Digital India and follows a call made by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary during the Bihar AI Summit 2026.
At the summit, the Chief Minister had urged Biharis living outside the state to contribute to the development of their janmabhoomi (birthplace) alongside their karmabhoomi (place of work).
“This platform has been created to carry forward that spirit and provide a practical mechanism through which people can contribute,” Mishra said.
Focus On Knowledge And Innovation
The minister described the portal as more than a feedback mechanism, calling it a bridge between Bihar and its global diaspora.
He said the government wants every Bihari, regardless of where they live, to participate in the state’s development journey through entrepreneurship, innovation, skill development, job creation and investment.
Mishra added that he would personally monitor the portal to ensure that proposals and suggestions received through the platform are examined seriously and translated into actionable outcomes wherever possible.
He expressed confidence that the global Bihari community would play a pivotal role in helping Bihar evolve into a knowledge-based, technology-driven and innovation-led economy.
“The experience, perspectives and contributions of Biharis across the world can accelerate Bihar’s journey towards becoming a developed state,” he said.
