Patna: The Bihar Legislative Assembly will convene for its budget session on February 2, continuing until February 25, with Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav scheduled to present the state’s budget for the 2026–27 financial year. The cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved the proposal on Tuesday.
The session marks the first full budget session of Bihar’s new government, offering an opportunity to outline its economic vision, development priorities, and policy plans. Lawmakers will scrutinise the budget through debates on demands for grants, Question Hour, Zero Hour, and calling attention motions. Several key bills are also expected to be introduced.
Opposition parties have begun preparations to challenge the government on issues including inflation, unemployment, law and order, and infrastructure development. Reports suggest the budget may prioritise education, healthcare, employment, rural development, and social welfare programmes, with additional provisions for schemes targeting women and youth.
Administrative and security preparations at the Assembly are underway to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings throughout the session.
