Patna: The government of Bihar has announced a strict enforcement drive against the use of DJ systems at social and religious events, particularly those operating without official permission. The move was discussed during proceedings in the Bihar Legislative Council, where lawmakers raised concerns over rising noise pollution and related safety issues.
The matter was brought forward by Independent MLC Vanshidhar Vrajvasi, who argued that excessively loud DJ sound systems may pose health risks, including alleged cases of heart attacks. He also highlighted law-and-order concerns, noting that celebratory gunfire during weddings and DJ vehicles without registration numbers have become increasingly common.
Responding to the debate, Transport Minister Shrawon Kumar said authorities would begin action within 15 days. He clarified that DJ equipment used without valid licences or permissions would be prohibited and vehicles carrying such systems could be confiscated as part of the enforcement drive.
The minister added that the Transport Department would strictly implement noise pollution regulations across the state. He urged event organisers to comply with licensing requirements, warning that authorities would take legal action against violations and that unregulated DJ operations would not be allowed to continue.
